About wine:

Grenache grown on schist gives Maison Jaune a particular finesse, combining fruit, cherry, heather flowers, thyme, and rockrose.

About the estate:

Sophie and Thibaud Bardi de Fourtou took over this historic estate in Faugères in 2017. The wines we tasted for this edition are the last examples of the transition between Jean-Michel Alquier and the new owners. The couple's goal? To perpetuate the style of the estate, whose vineyard is dominated by old Syrah vines from massal selections (among the first planted in Languedoc in the 1960s by Jean-Michel Alquier's father, Gilbert), complemented by Mourvèdre and Grenache. We remain attentive to this new turning point.

About wine:

Tasty and smoky, with aromas of tobacco, cigar box, olives, and pomegranate on the nose. It is full-bodied, with chalky tannins. Well concentrated. Drink now or hold.
