Calmel & Joseph - Faugères Le Gaillard rouge 2022

"An assertive character for this Faugères with delicious wild notes".

"Top marks for this absolutely seductive Syrah (majority) vinified as an infusion. Fine, pure, complex, the nose hesitates between black fruits, spices and aromatic herbs. Round and fresh, the wine rolls on greedily with just a hint of tannin, lingering on spices on the finish. A chiselled, delicate and simply delicious Faugères". (Le Guide Hachette 2026).

Domaine rated (guide 2025) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

The ideal house for those who want to discover good Languedoc wines faithful to their terroir. Jérôme Joseph and Laurent Calmel are wine merchants without a winery. They mature their selected cuvées with the winegrowers from whom they buy them, respecting the flavors and terroirs of their origins. A wide gourmet range with many successful wines and a few stunning surprises.

Domaine noté (guide 2025) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

Top marks for this infusion-produced Syrah (majority), absolutely seductive. Fine, pure, complex, the nose hesitates between black fruits, spices and aromatic herbs. Round and fresh, the wine rolls on greedily with just a hint of tannin, lingering on spices on the finish. A chiseled, delicate and simply delicious Faugères.

About the domain :

In 1995, oenologist Laurent Calmel joined forces with Jérôme Joseph to found a trading house specializing in Languedoc-Roussillon terroir wines. The duo launched their label in 2007. He selects the plots, vinifies and ages the cuvées.
