Château d'Oupia

Château d'Oupia, an old 12th-century building located in the heart of the Minervois region, is a family estate now run by Marie-Pierre Iche. Purchased in 1860, Château d'Oupia has continued to grow and invest in its vineyards and wines. Its first award was given by the Department of Agriculture in 1908.

In 1969, André ICHE became manager of the estate and undertook the renovation of the vineyard, incorporating new grape varieties well suited to the terroir while preserving the oldest Carignan vines. André planted his first Syrah vines in 1975, opened a wine cellar in 1980, and in 1985 began aging wine in barrels with the launch of the Les Barons cuvée. This marked the beginning of a series of awards, with other cuvées confirming the estate's reputation: Nobilis, Oppius, and Emérantine. Part of the Château d'Oupia vineyard is located in La Caunette, while the wine is made in Oupia.

After completing her studies in 1996, Marie-Pierre Iche decided to stay on the estate, which now covers an area of 63 hectares, divided between AOC Minervois (37 hectares) and Vin de Pays de l'Hérault (26 hectares).
