Château Pierre Bise - Anjou Le Haut de la Garde 2024
90/100
Robert Parker
"A lovely regional white wine crafted by one of the masters of Chenin"
Le Haut de la Garde is a fruity and precise wine, made from grapes harvested just before the onset of noble rot. This carefully timed harvest gives it a harmonious balance between aromas and acidity, as well as a silky, velvety texture that delicately envelops the palate.

Food and Wine Pairings
Enjoy it as an aperitif, but it also pairs well with meats served with bold, spicy sauces; it goes very well with cream-based sauces or mushroom sauces, as well as with fish and strong cheeses (such as Époisses and Livarot).
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
This 45-hectare vineyard, 80% of which is planted with Chenin, produces a wide range of white wines. René handles winemaking, while his older brother Christophe tends the vines. They aren’t organic, to be sure, but the soil is worked “their own way.” In the cellar, the same meticulous care prevails, with a variety of tanks of all kinds (stainless steel, cement, cylindrical, underground, 30-hl wooden tanks by Stockinger…), suitable for crafting nuanced and complex wines. The sweet wines are the estate’s greatest strength, as is the Savennières series (13 hectares), impeccably balanced.
