"The 2011 red Anjou wines are beautifully crafted, with a lovely spicy woodiness for Champs aux Loups." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2015 - RVF) - "A vintage for aging that is still holding back. The aging process somewhat masks the refined texture, enhanced by a palette of balsamic (coffee), tobacco, and black fruit flavors. An intense style to revisit in two years." (Les Meilleurs Vins de France - Gault Millau)

Nose

is striking on juicy fruit, underscored by subtle woodiness. The definition is more complex with notes of wild berries and spice brought out by aging. A hint of zan, licorice, and balsamic completes the aromatic phase.

Mouth

Ample and firm, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated, with tannins that are still prominent but of noble quality. The palate shows promise and still needs to mellow.

The 2011 red Anjou wines are beautifully crafted, with a lovely spicy oakiness for Champs aux Loup.

About the estate:

Roger-François Béguinot, who made his fortune in baby food, and his wife fell in love with Château Soucherie in 2007. This 28-hectare estate is beautifully situated on a south-facing schist hillside between Beaulieu and Rochefort, in the Anjou, Savennières, Coteaux du Layon, and Chaume appellations.
