Rated wine (2024 guide) 94/100 Favorite

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

Le Grand Clos takes tannic elegance, floral notes, and chalky texture to the next level. It will age beautifully and remain unforgettable for the next 20 years.

About the estate:

Benoît joined the family estate in Bourgueil in 2003 to carry on the family venture started by his father, Yannick, in 1997. Two-thirds of the vineyards are located in Bourgueil, with the remainder in the neighboring appellation of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil. You can sense the winemakers’ perfectionism and their desire to capture the expression of the terroirs through very silky and refined Cabernet Francs that still retain vibrant fruit. The estate has been certified organic since 2009, and the wines gain in purity each year thanks to increasingly precise winemaking methods (truncated wooden vats, barrels, and stoneware jars). The 2022 and 2023 vintages delight us with their frank, clean expression and finesse.

Review by Mr. ANTOINE P. Posted on 12/19/2024

This wine is full of freshness and fruit—I really enjoyed it. I detect pleasant notes of cherry pit and red berries. Perhaps it lacks a bit of depth, due to my lack of experience with Loire wines, but it’s still an excellent wine... Oh, and I almost forgot that subtle mineral note, which is particularly nice.
