“With its deep color flecked with mauve hues, this cuvée captivates with its intense bouquet, marked by wild berries accompanied by subtle woody notes—a legacy of its eighteen-month barrel aging. From the very first sip, the rich, juicy palate reveals the luscious fruit flavors (blackcurrant, blackberry), supported by well-integrated tannins.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019) A must-try cuvée from the estate!

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)
Winery rated 1 star (A high-quality, recommended wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the wine:
Full-bodied and tannic, with real potential—this is a true classic from Cravant. Try it again in 5 or 6 years, and especially in 10 years!
About the estate:
Established in 1981 on part of the family estate in Cravant-les-Coteaux, Pierre Sourdais cultivates his 27 hectares of vineyards using organic farming methods, with vineyards located both on the plains and on the hillsides. The Réserve-Stanislas and Les-Boulaies vintages are the ones to seek out first; they produce the wines with the richest tannic structure and the greatest aging potential.

About the wine:
With its deep color tinged with mauve hues, this cuvée captivates with its intense bouquet, dominated by wild berries and complemented by subtle woody notes—a legacy of its eighteen-month aging in oak barrels. From the very first sip, the rich, juicy flavors of the fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry) shine through, supported by well-integrated tannins.
About the estate:
It was at Moulin-à-Tan that oak bark was once ground for use in tanning hides at the region’s many tanneries. Today, the old mill has given way to a 27-hectare organic vineyard run by Pierre Sourdais, who is gradually passing the business on to his daughter Caroline and his son-in-law Sylvain. A trusted name in the Chinon region.

Excellent if you’re willing to give it time. Light yet full of character—it’s sure to make an impression. A delightful pairing with salmon and sorrel. Even better in a Magnum.
