Domaine de Montgilet - Coteaux de l'Aubance Les Trois Schistes 2022 (Liquoreux)
90/100
James Suckling
"This vintage, with its perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, has great potential to age well."
“A rich, comforting wine with aromas of peaches, baked lemons, and acacia honey on the nose, leading to a smooth, medium-bodied palate. Generous, yet it retains a certain liveliness in its silky finish. Ready to drink now.” (James Suckling).

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
Victor and Vincent Lebreton are devoted advocates of the Coteaux-de-l’Aubance. The brothers took over the family estate in 1986 and cultivate 60 hectares of vineyards across various plots with different types of schist soil. This allows them to craft single-vineyard wines with subtle nuances, reflecting the character of the blue schist (Le-Tertereaux), gray schist (Clos-des-Huttières), or purple schist (Le-Clos-Prieur). A charming winery that offers reasonable prices. Unsurprisingly, the range truly shines with the Aubance. The reds are simple and approachable, designed for immediate enjoyment.

About the estate:
This estate, located just outside Angers, is a regional leader, particularly when it comes to “Angers delicacies,” with superb Coteaux-de-l’Aubance wines on the menu. At the helm of the estate founded by his grandfather, Victor, and expanded by his father—also named Victor—Vincent Lebreton, who has been in charge since 1995, manages (in a very thoughtful manner) 75 hectares of slate-rich terroir. The sixth generation is now working alongside him.
