Beaumes-de-Venise

The Beaumes-de-Venise appellation is a Rhône Valley appellation, recognized as an AOC in 1937 and classified as a "Cru des Côtes du Rhône" in 2005. The vineyards occupy the south-southeast slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail.

The main grape variety of the Beaumes-de-Venise AOC is Grenache Noir, which must account for at least 50% of the blend, with Syrah making up a minimum of 25%. Other varieties such as Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and other grape varieties authorized in the Rhône Valley may also be added, with up to 10% white grape varieties permitted.

The character of eachBeaumes-de-Venise AOCwine is determined by the terroir: the nature of the soil, its exposure, and the prevailing climate are all essential factors in the quality of each wine from each plot. The red wines of the Beaumes-de-Venise AOC come from three major terroirs: the Terres du Trias, the Terres Blanches du Crétacée, and the Terres Grises du Jurassique.

Respect for the environment and the quality of the wines are central concerns for the 100 winegrowers who produce the Beaumes-de-Venise AOC.
