"Truly a great wine!"

“Given its dense character and aromas of dark fruit, you wouldn’t guess this wine comes from the challenging 2021 vintage. Rich, velvety tannins round out a full-bodied palate. Beautiful, fleshy, and spicy complexity. A bold finish. Not to be missed.” (James Suckling 2023)

Winemaking

At low temperatures (22–24°C) to preserve the freshness of this rich, sun-drenched, and highly expressive vintage—a true reflection of that year’s climate—great care was taken to maintain the elegance and finesse of the tannins by minimizing the extraction of seed tannins as much as possible

Livestock farming

18 months: 1/3 in concrete tanks, 1/3 in truncated cone tanks, and 1/3 in demi-muids; the barrels are not new to maintain a reducing environment

A pure, vibrant bouquet of black raspberries, blackcurrants, and plum liqueur, with hints of dark spices, white and black pepper, candied orange, violets, chocolate, and freshly turned earth

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100 (An outstanding wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

Coming from one of Vignon's consulting clients, the 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Anonyme is slightly less expressive on the nose than its CdP blend, but it offers more cherry notes alongside strawberries and pomegranates. It is full-bodied, rich, and concentrated, with a long, tannic finish. Although of roughly equivalent quality, it is quite different in style, with likely slightly superior aging potential. The blend consists of 60% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% Roussanne and Vaccarèse, 3% Muscardin, and 2% Counoise. Fermentation and aging take place in a wide variety of containers, including a significant proportion of amphorae.
