“A superb Syrah that’s a must-try!”

“Another superb wine from Stéphane Ogier, made from vines planted in the village of Turpin on granitic soils, the 2022 La Rosine Syrah offers aromas of Timut pepper, violet, blackberry, and dark berries intertwined with lovely floral notes. Moderately full-bodied and delicately juicy, it is round and perfectly balanced, with a soft mid-palate and a fresh, fruity core that leads to a long, fresh, and delicate finish.” (Wine Advocate 2025)

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Since 2014, Stéphane Ogier has been making wine in an ultra-modern winery in Ampuis, where he gives free rein to his creative talent. Of the 18 hectares cultivated by this estate, 3.5 hectares are located on beautiful plots in Côte-Rôtie. Stéphane joined his father Michel in 1997 after studying oenology in Beaune, where he developed a taste for elegance and finesse. The wines are made from partially destemmed grapes (50% whole-cluster in the Lancement cuvée). The precision of recent vintages, the rigorous selection of single-vineyard cuvées, and the style the wines now exhibit place the estate among the elite, with a third star now within reach.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

The Collines Rhodaniennes La Rosine 2022 is a powerful wine, with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, asphalt, toasted herbs, and leather. Grown on the granite soils of the southern part of the appellation, this medium-bodied to full-bodied wine displays good ripeness and a lovely roundness, offering a meaty, flavorful character balanced by a beautiful fruity sweetness. Best enjoyed between 2025 and 2032.
