Le Roc des Anges - L'Oca 2014

Le Roc des Anges - L'Oca 2014

18,5/20

RVF

(2013 Vintage Notes)

Oca is a dense, majestic white wine on the palate, complex with pronounced mineral notes, yet full of delicacy. A fine dining white that pairs beautifully with delicate fish, as well as fish tartares and carpaccios... A lovely white from the South!

Rated estate (2024 guide) 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

Bright. That’s surely the adjective that best describes Roc des Anges, both in terms of the style of the wines and the modern, aesthetically pleasing winery run by Marjorie and Stéphane Gallet. They built their estate from the ground up, and today it spans 45 hectares of vineyards. These are highly drinkable wines, relatively low in alcohol for the region, where meticulous viticulture and a well-timed harvest prevent any heaviness in the wines. Biodynamics accounts for part of this uniqueness in Roussillon, as does the very distinctive terroir of Montner, with its very fine schist that behaves like sand. This estate consistently delivers some of the most exquisite dry wines in the entire department.
