Le Roc des Anges

Le Roc des Anges, located in Montner, was established in 2001 by Marjorie and Stéphane Gallet, who also own the Les Terres de Fagayra estate in Maury. The name originates from a Carignan vineyard planted on a quartz vein. A hillside with white soil, surrounded by black schist: the locality is called “Roc Blanc.” Thus, angels were chosen to symbolize this quartz vein, and Roc Blanc became Le Roc des Anges.

The 25-hectare vineyard of the Le Roc des Anges estate is primarily planted with Mediterranean grape varieties cultivated at low yields (17 hl/ha on average). It sits on shallow, well-draining schist soils that encourage deep root growth. Work in the vineyard is carried out in harmony with the terroir: the entire vineyard is organically farmed. In 2011, the transition to biodynamic farming began.

Work in the cellar continues the approach established in the vineyard. Simplicity is the rule. Aging is carefully managed, and many Roc des Anges wines are aged in concrete tanks to allow them to breathe and preserve the fruit.
