Hand-harvested grapes at peak ripeness, selected through a rigorous process

Winemaking

Gentle, gradual pneumatic pressing. Temperature control during fermentation. A very long alcoholic fermentation driven by indigenous yeasts, which contribute to the wine’s authenticity and complexity. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally during aging.

Livestock farming

Aged in oak barrels for approximately 11 months, on very fine lees that are stirred up regularly.

A golden color with almost reddish highlights

Nose

Hints of honey and vanilla, the sweetness of white spring flowers against a backdrop that is both fresh and toasty

Palate

Rich and well-structured, already showing honeyed notes despite its youth, with toasty notes from the oak barrel. Very nice balance and finesse on the palate. Good aging potential.

About the estate:

This large 28-hectare estate was long run by André and Michel. Guillaume, Michel’s son, joined the business in 2009. The estate is located on the steep hillside of Torméry, south of Chignin. It was the grandfather who oversaw the replanting in the 1950s. The estate avoids herbicides as much as possible but cannot work all its plots by hand. Guillaume is experimenting with organic farming on the two and a half hectares he acquired to form the Côteau de Torméry estate. He is also conducting aging trials in large oak casks or stoneware. A broad, cohesive range with promising innovations.

About the estate:

Michel Quénard took over the family estate, founded by his grandparents, in 1976. His son Guillaume joined him in 2009, after studying at the wine school in Beaune and then at the engineering school in Changins (Switzerland), and took over the reins of this estate, one of the most renowned in Savoie, known for its consistently high quality in both red and white wines.
