André et Michel Quenard - Chignin Mondeuse Vieilles Vignes rouge 2021
1*Étoile

"A noble grape variety, a wine with character"
A noble grape variety, Mondeuse, when tasted in its first spring, leaves no one indifferent. It thrills some, while roughing up the sensibilities of others, jostling the taste buds with its structure and tannins. If you can forget about it, even for just one year, it softens to reveal its charms and velvety texture. Its mountainous image transforms into a tonic beverage. If you can forget about it for just one year, it softens to reveal its charms and velvety texture. Its mountainous image is transformed into a tonic, seductive beverage with aromas of raspberry and blueberry, a peppery flavor, and a bouquet of autumn flowers.

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
This large 28-hectare estate was long run by André and Michel. Guillaume, Michel's son, arrived in 2009. The estate is located on the steep slopes of Torméry, south of Chignin. It was Guillaume's grandfather who replanted the vineyard in the 1950s. The estate avoids herbicides as much as possible but cannot work all its plots by hand. Guillaume is experimenting with organic farming on the two and a half hectares he took over to form the Côteau de Torméry estate. He is also experimenting with ageing in large oak barrels or sandstone vats. A wide and consistent range with promising innovations.

About the estate:
Michel Quénard took over the family estate, founded by his grandparents, in 1976. His son Guillaume joined him in 2009, after studying at the Beaune wine school and then at the Changins engineering school (Switzerland), and took over the reins of this estate, one of the most renowned in Savoie, which produces wines of consistently high quality, both red and white.
