André et Michel Quenard - Chignin-Bergeron Le Grand Rebossan 2024
3*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"Star cuvée"
"Such elegance and balance! Is it due to the age of the vines, which are over 50 years old? To the nature of the soil, steeply sloping limestone gravel, and the iconic Roussanne grape, the jewel in the crown of Savoie wines? Or to the expertise of Michel Quenard and his son Guillaume? A little of everything, certainly! The nose evokes a spring meadow, white fruit and stone fruit (peach and apricot), enveloped in honeyed notes. As for the palate, it is full-bodied, supple and generous, elegantly fruity (apricot kernel) and devilishly seductive. It should be reserved for the table and a beautiful Bresse chicken with cream sauce. (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
This large 28-hectare estate was long run by André and Michel. Guillaume, Michel's son, arrived in 2009. The estate is located on the steep slopes of Torméry, south of Chignin. It was Guillaume's grandfather who replanted the vineyard in the 1950s. The estate avoids herbicides as much as possible but cannot work all its plots by hand. Guillaume is experimenting with organic farming on the two and a half hectares he took over to form the Côteau de Torméry estate. He is also experimenting with ageing in large oak barrels or sandstone vats. A wide and consistent range with promising innovations.

About the estate:
Michel Quénard took over the family estate, founded by his grandparents, in 1976. His son Guillaume joined him in 2009, after studying at the Beaune wine school and then at the Changins engineering school (Switzerland), and took over the reins of this estate, one of the most renowned in Savoie, which produces wines of consistently high quality, both red and white.
