André et Michel Quenard - Chignin Vieilles Vignes 2024
2*Étoiles
Hachette
“Smoothness, complexity, and a rich bouquet on the palate”
“This magnificent Jacquère, a regular favorite, comes from 70-year-old Jacquère vines and was selected as Favorite. The nose, with its great floral freshness centered on hawthorn and jasmine, finds a long echo on the palate, animated by a light effervescence and lively, mineral, and fruity flavors, before finishing with elegant floral notes. We applaud it.” (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
This large 28-hectare estate was long managed by André and Michel. Guillaume, Michel’s son, joined the business in 2009. The estate is located on the steep hillside of Torméry, south of Chignin. It was the grandfather who oversaw the replanting in the 1950s. The estate avoids herbicides as much as possible but cannot work all its plots by hand. Guillaume is experimenting with organic farming on the two and a half hectares he acquired to establish the Côteau de Torméry estate. He is also conducting aging trials in large oak casks or stoneware. A broad, consistent range with promising innovations.

About the estate:
Michel Quénard took over the family estate, founded by his grandparents, in 1976. His son Guillaume joined him in 2009, after studying at the wine school in Beaune and then at the engineering school in Changins (Switzerland), and took over the reins of this estate, one of the most renowned in Savoie, known for its consistently high quality in both red and white wines.

A very pleasant wine to drink, with a savory and smooth palate. The acidity is perfectly balanced, and I think it pairs better with a fish dish than with a traditional raclette.
