About the estate:
Bergerac, in the far southeast of the appellation: from his organically farmed plots on the limestone plateau and deep clay hillsides, Julien Auroux looks to the future with confidence. His wines have turned their backs on the Bergerac tradition of imitating Bordeaux reds while ignoring the soil. On the contrary, he is committed to salinity, frank and precise aromatic expression, indigenous yeast, and almost no added sulfur. He is rehabilitating grapes from the past for a return to the future. The range draws on the acidity of the soil for a digestible presence and has taken a step up this year.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 10/06/2025
With just the right touch of freshness in a basket of juicy, crisp fruit, the palate is powerful, full-bodied, and energetic, yet displays tenderness and smoothness thanks to enveloping, velvety tannins with remarkable aromatic persistence. The price remains as reasonable as ever. A pure delight when paired with an autumn salad featuring mixed greens, thin slices of Bayonne ham, cubes of aged Cantal cheese, slices of Bordeaux porcini mushrooms, and walnut kernels. Rating = 4.1.
