Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100 (2021 vintage)

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Bergerac, in the far southeast of the appellation: from his organically farmed plots on the limestone plateau and the deep-clay hillsides, Julien Auroux looks to the future with confidence. His wines have turned their backs on Bergerac’s past, which sought to imitate Bordeaux reds while neglecting the terroir. He, on the contrary, is committed to wines characterized by salinity and a clear, precise aromatic expression, made with native yeasts and with almost no added sulfur. He is reviving grape varieties of the past for a return to the future. The lineup draws on the soils’ acidity to create an approachable profile and has taken a step up this year.
