"A real treat!"

“A standout wine for this vintage, blending Merlot (45%), Malbec (30%), and Cabernet Franc. After twelve months in oak, it boasts a dark, dense color and reveals an elegant nose, blending well-integrated oak notes with floral nuances and a hint of forest floor. The palate is equally impressive: structured, full-bodied, and fresh all at once, supported by pleasant tannins and lovely acidity, with just the right amount of oak, it displays real power for both the vintage and the appellation.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins)

Rated estate (2027 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable vintage, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Sylvie and Jean-François Deffarge have proudly represented Montravel at this family-owned estate since 1749, which spans 38 hectares on the hillsides and the Vélines plateau. They have recently handed the reins over to their sons, Quentin and Benjamin, while remaining on hand to support them. The extensive lineup offers wines suitable for every occasion. The estate obtained organic certification in 2022.

About the estate:

A very old family estate (1749) located on the hills above Montravel, this vast property is now one of the leading names in the Bergerac region, thanks to the work carried out since 1990 (when the estate left the cooperative) by Jean-François Deffarge, a “self-taught oenologist,” who is now handing the reins over to his sons Benjamin and Quentin. The vineyard (50 ha) spans two distinct terroirs: clay-limestone slopes and a high plateau of boulbène soil. Currently in the process of converting to organic farming.
