“One of Catena Zapata’s two finest Chardonnays, sourced from a micro-parcel with a dazzling concentration, according to Robert Parker!”

“It displays characteristic aromas of green ginger, stone fruit, herbs, and a mineral austerity. The palate is austere, almost severe, entirely focused on a chalky texture and tension. [...] It develops floral flavors as it ages, adding to its complexity. Drink now or cellar.” (James Suckling 2025)

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Wine rated (2025 guide) 96+/100 (Extraordinary wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

The 2023 White Stones Chardonnay from Adrianna Vineyard displays classic aromatic purity and concentration, with dominant notes of citrus zest, iodine, and dried herbs, complemented by an elegant hint of pastry cream in the background. The palate extends this combination with a sculpted, precisely defined texture that carries through to an ethereal finish of dazzling concentration. Initially quite reserved, it gradually and steadily reveals depth of texture and length on the finish, and I believe it will merit a higher rating after further bottle aging. 2025–2035

Rated: Recommended

About the wine:

It exhibits characteristic aromas of green ginger, stone fruit, herbs, and a mineral austerity. The palate is austere, almost severe, entirely focused on a chalky texture and tension. It comes from a section of the vineyard covered with granite rocks coated in calcium carbonate. Pressed once with whole clusters, then aged in 500-liter barrels and 30% in tanks. It develops floral notes during aging, which lends it additional complexity. Ready to drink or for cellaring.
