Domaine Franck Chavy - Morgon Oak Barrel Cuvée 2017

Domaine Franck Chavy - Morgon Cuvée fût de chêne 2017

“Franck Chavy has crafted a wine that epitomizes the very best of Beaujolais, thanks to exceptional weather conditions and terroir, but above all to the perseverance of this born perfectionist. Long maceration (20 days), aging in three different sizes of oak barrels [...]: All the creativity of this passionate winemaker is expressed in this 2017 Morgon. Here, the Gamay is truly brought to life by subtle aging. The result: aromas of dark berries followed by notes of spices (wild anise, pepper, mocha) that charmed the jury’s tasters.” (Interbeaujolais press release, January 2019)

About the estate:

The son and grandson of winemakers, Franck Chavy settled in 1991 on a few hectares of Morgon. Through purchases and sharecropping arrangements, he has expanded his estate, which now covers 9.5 hectares, while establishing himself in the Guide, where he is considered a sure bet. This success is undoubtedly due in part to high-density planting (10,000 vines per hectare) and extended maceration.
