Franck Chavy Estate
A family of winemakers for four generations, the Franck Chavy Estate is located in two well-known Beaujolais communes: Morgon-Villié and Régnié-Durette. Some of the vines on the estate were planted in 1900 and are a living legacy of previous generations. The Chavy Estate has 9 hectares of vineyards in different appellations: Morgon (3.5 ha), Régnié (3 ha), Brouilly (2 ha), Beaujolais Villages (0.5 ha). At Chavy Estate We work as a family, from pruning the vines to winemaking and marketing. The only exception to this rule is the grape harvest, which is done by hand and requires the use of seasonal workers.

On the Chavy EstateGamay is planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare. Each vine competes with the others, limiting the size of the bunches and their susceptibility to botrytis. This maximizes sunlight exposure, optimizing phenolic ripening and producing rich, round wines with good aging potential while retaining a fruity, easy-drinking character.

Particular care is taken during vinification, with careful consideration given to the process: long maceration periods (16 to 20 days) to extract the essence from destemmed grapes, allowing the terroir to express itself and eliminating the "fermentation" aromas (banana flavor) typical of Beaujolais wines. The style of the wines is frank, generous, precise, and full of personality. The goal of winemaker Franck Chavy here is to produce wines with great aging potential.
His Morgon 2017, aged in oak barrels, a micro-cuvée, was voted Best Gamay in the World in Lyon in January 2019, during the International Gamay Competition....
