Domaine Franck Chavy
Winegrowing family for 4 generations Domaine Franck Chavy is located in 2 well-known Beaujolais communes: Morgon-Villié and Régnié-Durette. Some of the vines on the estate have been planted since 1900 and represent a genuine living heritage of the passage of generations. Le Domaine Chavy has 9 hectares of vines in various appellations: Morgon (3.5 ha), Régnié (3 ha), Brouilly (2 ha), Beaujoulais Villages (0.5 ha). At Domaine Chavy we work as a family, from pruning the vines to vinification and marketing. The only exception to this rule is the harvest, which is done by hand and requires the use of seasonal workers.

On the Domaine ChavyGamay is planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare. Each vine competes with the other, limiting the size of the bunches and their susceptibility to botrytis. This maximizes sunshine reception to optimize phenolic ripening, resulting in rich, round wines with good ageing potential and a fruity, easy-drinking character.

Particular care is taken during vinification, with real thought given to long macerations (16 to 20 days) to extract substance from a de-stemmed harvest, to let the terroir express itself and forget the so-called "fermentary" aromas (banana taste) of Beaujolais wines. The wines are frank, generous, precise and full of personality. Winemaker Franck Chavy 's aim here is to produce wines with great ageing potential.
Its 2017 Morgon micro-cuvée, aged in oak barrels, was voted "best Morgon of the year". World's Best Gamay in Lyon in January 2019, at the Concours International du Gamay....
