Franck Chavy Winery
A family of winemakers for four generations, the Franck Chavy Winery is located in two well-known villages in the Beaujolais region: Morgon-Villié and Régnié-Durette. Some of the vines on the estate were planted as early as 1900 and represent a true living legacy of past generations. The Chavy Estate covers 9 hectares of vineyards across various appellations: Morgon (3.5 ha), Régnié (3 ha), Brouilly (2 ha), Beaujolais Villages (0.5 ha). At Chavy Estate We’re a family-run operation, handling everything from pruning the vines to winemaking and sales. The only exception to this is the harvest, which is done by hand and requires the help of seasonal workers.

On the Chavy EstateGamay is planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare. Each vine competes with its neighbors, which limits the size of the clusters and their susceptibility to botrytis. This ensures maximum sun exposure to optimize phenolic ripening, resulting in rich, round wines with aging potential that retain a fruity, easy-drinking character.

Particular care is taken during winemaking, with a thoughtful approach: long macerations (16 to 20 days) to extract flavor from destemmed grapes, allowing the terroir to express itself and eliminating the so-called "fermentative" aromas (banana notes) typical of Beaujolais wines. The wines are frank, generous, precise, and full of personality. Winemaker Franck Chavy’s goal here is to produce wines with great aging potential.
His 2017 Morgon, aged in oak barrels and part of a micro-cuvée, was selected Best Gamay in the World in Lyon in January 2019, at the International Gamay Competition....
