Domaine des Perelles - Moulin-à-Vent Cuvée Spéciale 2010
89/100
Wine Spectator
Here, Laurent Perrachon has crafted a truly exquisite Moulin-à-Vent Cuvée Spéciale, aged in oak barrels. A wine that is both rich and powerful, much like the very finest Burgundies. It offers delicate aromas of black fruit, vanilla, and pepper. The tannins are already supple, and the palate is balanced, elegant, and powerful. A wine of the highest caliber!

About the estate:
Winegrowers in Juliénas since the early 17th century, the Perrachons purchased Château de la Bottière in 1877, followed by Domaine des Perelles in Romanèche-Thorins (a windmill). Upon taking over in 1989, Laurent Perrachon acquired the Domaine des Mouilles, followed by plots in Morgon, Fleurie, and Saint-Amour: a total of 31 hectares, with vineyards across six crus. With Maxime and Adrien, the new generation joined the estate in 2016.

It's passable, provided you're not looking for the character of the Gamay or the terroir.
