“The 2011 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre offers aromas of ripe pear, kiwi, and grapefruit, with hints of white pepper, lemon zest, chalk, and marine notes. There is so much richness in this bottle that you have to take a step back to get a better view, and that’s not something I’d say about many wines from this vintage. I suspect it has the potential to gain in stature, and it will be worth following until at least 2018.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2014 guide) 17/20 (Reference wine)
About the wine:
Very clean nose with gunflint notes; sharp on the palate; a taut, tight finish; full of character.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (2014 guide) 2** stars (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
Favorite with a superb Mont de Milieu, Bernard Billaud nearly “did it again” with his 2011 Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru. He will “settle” for two stars. A remarkable wine for its integrity and precision. The nose, of great finesse, opens with notes of white flowers. As for the palate, which is full of roundness, it is underscored by a touch of liveliness. A subtle cuvée that would pair beautifully with shellfish.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated 15.5/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
We’re absolutely smitten with this top-tier Chablis, which effortlessly transcends its vintage to offer a superb, tactile balance. We love the fullness on the palate, which is punctuated by a rhythmic mineral edge. The chalky, creamy finish is simply beautiful. This is a magnificent bottle—one worth waiting a little longer for to fully appreciate its potential.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2014 guide) 15,5/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the wine:
Montée de Tonnerre is just as full-bodied, with a superb mineral character.
About the estate:
This family-owned estate, established in Chablis since 1815, changed hands in 2014, becoming part of the Faiveley estate. This expanded Faiveley’s portfolio—already comprising 20 hectares of Chablis’s finest terroirs—to include four grands crus: Les Clos, Les Preuses, Vaudésir, and Les Blanchots; four premiers crus: Montée de Tonnerre, Mont-de-Milieu, Fourchaume, and Vaillons, as well as Chablis and Petit Chablis. Olivier Bailly was appointed estate manager in 2014 and quickly refined the winemaking process. Starting in 2016, the return to top quality became evident, and this estate is now one of the most reliable in Chablis.
