“Chassagne-Montrachet is in top form!”

This is a wine bursting with character, offering, right from the first whiff, delightful aromas of wild strawberries, morello cherries, and raspberries. On the palate, it has plenty of body and reveals notes of spices and pepper. While still young, it’s best to open it a little in advance so that the wine can fully reveal its character and richness.

Wine rated 91/100 (2019 vintage)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Bertrand Bachelet, a young winemaker who has been in business since 2011, runs this 13-hectare estate stretching from Maranges to Pommard. Sustainable viticulture and the Cordon de Royat training system are standard practice here, as are the massal selections developed from the estate’s oldest vines. A range characterized by wines with ripe, intense fruit. The reds, which account for the vast majority of production, are vinified destemmed in concrete tanks and feature silky tannins, while the whites, without stirring, offer roundness and aromas of orchard fruits—juicy and honeyed.
