"A great Vougeot"
"A wealth of damp earth notes and a range of red and black cherries, along with a hint of smoke. The palate is beautifully mellow and long, offering a striking range of juicy, rich, and sweet cherries that remain pure and fresh. Silky tannins have the last word. Great Vougeot. Try from 2022. About wine:
Drouhin's Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2018 shows itself very well, opening up in the glass with aromas of blackcurrant, plum, dark chocolate, incense, and petals. Full-bodied, rich, and enveloping, it is ample and spectacular, with a concentrated core of fruit, succulent acids, and velvety tannins that make it unusually accessible at this early stage.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
This house is now run by Frédéric Drouhin, assisted by his sister Véronique for the wines and his brother Philippe for the vines. In July 2013, it opened a wine bar in the heart of Beaune. It has found its stride and is establishing itself as a sure bet. The house relies on a biodynamic vineyard that is particularly well endowed with great whites, in Côte-de-Beaune but also in Chablis (wines sold under the Drouhin-Vaudon label), including the famous Clos des Mouches.
