"This vintage from Jadot offers great aging potential and brilliantly combines power and finesse: absolutely sublime."

"Jadot is one of 80 owners of tiny plots in this five-acre vineyard surrounded by walls. This wine is characterized as much by its rich and generous opulence as by its structure. An elegant bouquet blends with powerful black fruit and velvety tannins. The wine will develop slowly and surely, ready to drink from 2027." (Wine Enthusiast 2019) • Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Rated estate (2025 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

The Gagey family became involved in this veritable piece of Burgundian historical heritage upon the death of Louis-Auguste Jadot. With no heir, the estate was entrusted in 1962 to André Gagey, who remained its manager until 1991, when he handed over the reins to his son Pierre-Henry, who now oversees the 225 hectares of vineyards. Since 2011, Frédéric Barnier has been in charge of winemaking, perfectly succeeding Jacques Lardière and further improving the consistency and homogeneity of all the wines. The whites are pneumatically pressed and fermented directly in barrels, where they are aged on lees with periodic stirring for 12 to 20 months. The red wines are vinified destemmed, uncrushed, without cold pre-fermentation, and undergo a vatting period of 25 to 27 days before beginning their 12 to 22 months of aging in barrels, a third of which are new.

Wine rating (2019 guide) 93/100 (Outstanding wine)

Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About wine:

The Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2016 (Domaine Louis Jadot) presents itself well as soon as it is poured and unfolds in the glass with a young, primary bouquet of ripe cherries, red berries, candied peel, and blackcurrants, subtly framed by beautifully integrated new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample, and satiny in texture, with a broad frame and impressively refined tannins enveloped by a succulent, even tart core of vibrant fruit, ending with a long, well-defined finish. Although the structure is refined enough that drinking a glass now would not be a brutal experience, a decade of patience is recommended.

Wine rating (2020 guide) 95/100 Favorite

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About wine:

A delicately woody yet elegant nose precedes fruit of great purity. Behind a very refined attack, the earthy power of the terroir reasserts itself in a straightforward, salty finish that is not austere. It has infinite aging potential.

About the estate:

This prestigious wine merchant is run with great efficiency by Pierre-Henry Gagey, who is very involved in Burgundy. The company has an extensive range and a beautiful collection of terroirs, including the main Burgundy appellations. Frédéric Barnier, who has been in charge of winemaking since 2012, is gradually making his mark by refining the wines. Consistency is one of this house's strengths. While the whites show beautiful balance, the reds are strict and severe, with woodiness dominating the fruit and even acetate notes, which this year detract from the enjoyment of certain vintages. Let's hope this is temporary, as the star is under threat.

About wine:

Barrel sample. Light cherry red. Freshness of peppery raspberry. Very smooth, round, and soft texture. More accessible than the Corton-Pougets, but with slightly less concentration on the mid-palate.
