"Benchmark Grand Cru"

"With its 17.40 hectares, it is the largest of the 25 climats on the Corton hill. Dominique Guyon produces a Corton with a ruby color that glows on the rim of the glass and exudes good taste. Discreet but refined, the nose hesitates between violet and blackcurrant, barely enhanced by oak. This elegant bouquet infuses a silky texture supported by fine, tight tannins that in no way detract from its charm. A precise, racy wine, perfectly harmonious and with good aging potential. For "Hungarian-style pheasant," says the jury, or more simply, a juicy guinea fowl." (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

Wine rated 95/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

Refined and balanced, without the usual restraint of this climate in young wines, but drinking it quickly would be a mistake. It has real aging potential that will allow it to reveal all the intrinsic class of this first-rate Corton climate.

About the estate:

With 47 hectares across 25 climats, this family estate, assembled from countless plots, boasts a unique wine-growing heritage, with a particularly impressive representation of the area around Corton hill. The wines are true to their terroirs of origin, unpretentious and full of sincerity. The estate is managed by Dominique Guyon, run organically and certified from the 2018 vintage onwards. The reds, made from partially destemmed grapes, combine ripe fruit and fine tannins. They are faithful representatives of their terroir of origin, with a range of very successful reds in 2018, led by the Corton Clos-du-Roi, which is not unusual. The whites include the remarkable Meursault Charmes-Dessus and Pernand Sous-Frétille.

About wine:

Deep blood red in color, with an intense umami and spicy character on the attack, the first palate presents deep red cherries, blood orange, and fresh rose petals. The mouth is abundant with red fruits, including apple, cherry, pomegranate, and rhubarb. This wine is characterized by its elegance and balance.

About the estate:

This large 48-hectare estate is located in Savigny-lès-Beaune. In the 1960s, Antonin Guyon purchased plots of land stretching from Gevrey-Chambertin to Meursault. In 1970, his son Dominique completed the estate. He managed to acquire 350 plots belonging to nearly 80 owners in the commune of Meuilley in the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits, representing 22 hectares. Today, Dominique Guyon runs the estate and carries out the vinification with the help of his cellar master, who is also his vineyard manager, Vincent Nicot. The vineyard is particularly well tended, with plowing, moderate amendments, limited yields, and grapes that are always sorted at harvest time. The estate offers a wide range of wines from both the Côte-de-Nuits and Côte-de-Beaune, including numerous Premier Crus and a few Grands Crus from Corton and Charmes-Chambertin. All the wines have beautiful fruitiness and great density.
