"A 1er Cru from one of the estate's finest plots on the edge of Vergelesses Island, from which it takes its name: graceful and seductive...".

"Sweet, delicate, refined aromas of blue and black fruits with underlying mineral tension. The palate is linear, with a round, polished texture and a mineral, chalky finish. A fine floral finish. Excellent for drinking now, but with great ageing potential. Drink now or cellar. (James Suckling 2025)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

With 47 hectares in 25 climats, this family estate, assembled from innumerable parcels, boasts a unique winegrowing heritage, including a first-rate representation of the Corton hillside. The wines are faithful to their original terroirs, unpretentious and full of sincerity. The estate is managed by Dominique Guyon, and will be certified organic from the 2018 vintage. The reds, made from partially destemmed grapes, combine ripe fruit and fine tannins. They are faithful representatives of their terroir of origin, with a successful range of reds in 2018, where Corton Clos-du-Roi is leading the way, which is not unusual. In white, outstanding Meursault charmes-dessus and Pernand sous-frétille.

About the wine:

Again, very well-judged fruit, with excellent freshness and appropriate terroir expression. One of those appellations whose best wines are undervalued. 2029-2039

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses 1er Cru 2023 shows more complexity and minerality than Les Fichots, with light aromas of iris blossom mingling with red fruit and a subtle note of incense. The palate is medium-bodied with good grip. Fresh and with good tension, it is more precise than Les Fichots, with a pleasant sapidity on the finish. Recommended. 2026-2040

About the domain :

This large 48-hectare estate is located in Savigny-lès-Beaune. In the 1960s, Antonin Guyon purchased parcels from Gevrey-Chambertin to Meursault. In 1970, his son Dominique completed the estate. He succeeded in bringing together 350 parcels belonging to nearly 80 owners in the commune of Meuilley in the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits, representing a total of 22 hectares. Today, Dominique Guyon runs the estate and carries out the vinifications with the help of his cellar master, who is also his vineyard manager, Vincent Nicot. The vineyard is particularly well tended, with ploughing, moderate soil enrichment, limited yields and grapes always sorted at harvest time. The domaine offers a wide range of wines in both Côte-de-Nuits and Côte-de-Beaune, with many 1ers Crus and a few Grands Crus de Corton and a Charmes-Chambertin. All the wines have great fruit and density.
