"Tasted again from the bottle, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers aromas of sweet berries, black truffle, and spices, framed by a subtle touch of oak. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a concentrated, rich and reserved core built around velvety tannins and lively acids." (Wine Advocate 2021)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
With 120 hectares, including 70 in the Côte Chalonnaise, one of the most beautiful wine cellars in Burgundy in Nuits-Saint-Georges, and recent expansions such as the lease of the Zibetti estate and the takeover of the Dupont-Tisserand and Billaud-Simon estates, Faiveley is becoming more than ever an essential ambassador for the great wines of Burgundy throughout the world. And we are delighted that this is not at the expense of high standards of quality and style at all levels of appellation and price. The careful consideration given to the work in the vineyard is bearing fruit, with the estate's wines showcasing the integrity and precision of each cuvée, both white and red. The 2017 range is once again successful and consistent.

About the estate:
This estate, founded in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1825, has been a prominent name in Burgundy for seven generations. Erwan Faiveley has been at its helm since 2005, succeeding his father François. Today, it is one of the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, with 120 hectares stretching from the north of the Côte de Nuits to the south of the Côte Chalonnaise, including 10 hectares of grand cru and nearly 25 hectares of premier cru.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About wine:
Structured, it offers fairly lively fruit, soft flesh, and a good range of flavors, with a fairly firm finish.
About the estate:
With the help of his technical director Jérôme Flous, Erwan Faiveley took over from his father in early 2005 and has since been quietly revolutionizing this vast estate with its exceptional vineyard heritage, which has expanded in recent years. The style of the wines has evolved subtly: solidly built around a dense structure that is less austere than in the past, they now express a frank fruitiness that comes through earlier. While the woody notes were once a little green, they now take on toasty flavors. With better ripeness, the grapes from recent vintages tend to integrate better. All of the wines, particularly the reds, have improved considerably. A spectacular new winery was used for the first time for the 2018 harvest. This estate has successfully improved its wines with precision and intelligence.
