A first-class Premier Cru!
Rated domain Remarkable by the Gault Millau guide, Area to monitor by the RVFGrown in particularly chalky soil, minerality dominates this vintage. The First Growth "The Old Castle" is a fine wine with great aromatic purity that reveals a true personality. Lively and fruity, incisive, it gains nuance and structure thanks to partial aging in oak barrels. Stéphane Aladame, a passionate perfectionist, and recognized as a rising star in the appellation Montagny, sign it as a wine to drink now, with excellent aging potential. A sure bet worth discovering!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Stéphane Aladame established his estate in 1992 at the age of 18 and now works with Julie on 8 hectares in Montagny, seven of which are premier cru. For the past ten years, the vines have been cultivated using organic methods, with grass cover and plowing. A fan of freshness and finesse, Stéphane uses very few barrels so that the terroir can express itself. The wines thus offer character but acquire their precision with a little time in the bottle. An essential estate in Montagny, highly prized by wine merchants and restaurateurs.

About the estate:
As I wrote last year, Stéphane Aladame, who launched his eponymous estate 25 years ago at the age of 18, is one of the leading figures in Montagny. He describes his methods in the vineyards as "three-quarters organic," meaning that he works the soil and avoids herbicides and the use of organic pesticides, but will use two or three synthetic treatments during the year if necessary. In the cellar, he does not seek extremes, using mostly large 350-liter barrels and rotating barrels for 10 years, so that the aromas and flavors of new oak do not have a significant influence here. His wines are pure, charming, and well worth seeking out.As I wrote last year, Stéphane Aladame, who launched his eponymous estate 25 years ago at the age of 18, is one of the leading figures in Montagny. Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Stéphane Aladame established his estate in 1992, at the age of eighteen. Since then, this perfectionist producer has progressed steadily, assisted by his wife Julie. Alongside the estate, a small wine trading business was launched in 2002, producing white Burgundy and a small amount of Montagny. His white Montagny wines are models of finesse and freshness: lightly oaked, consistently excellent, with good aging potential and reasonably priced. The estate is a fixture on the best French gourmet tables and exports only half of its production.
