Montagny
The Montagny and Montagny Premier Cru appellation is located at the southern tip of the Côte Chalonnaise, in Saône-et-Loire, and covers four villages: Buxy, Montagny-lès-Buxy, Jully-lès-Buxy, and Saint Vallerin. Montagny was recognized as an appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) in 1936. Within the Montagny wines, 49 climats have been awarded the Montagny Premier Cru appellation, including Les Bouchots, Le Clouzot, Les Pidances, Les Las, Les Gouresses, Les Burnins, Les Maroques, Les Beaux Champs, Les Macles, Creux de Beaux Champs, L'Epaule, Les Platières, etc. Among these climats, we recommend the wines produced by Domaine Stéphane Aladame and Maison Chanson Père et Fils.

The AOC Montagny terroir faces east and southeast. The slopes of the Bajocian hillsides are home to vines at an altitude of between 250 and 400 meters, on marly or calcareous and marly soils. The Lower Triassic sandstone that outcrops at Buxy is in contact with the Kimmeridgian, the geological stage of Chablis wines.

Montagny wines are exclusively white wines made solely from the Chardonnay grape variety. The appellation's 310 hectares allow for an annual production of around 18,000 hectoliters of wine.
