"A treasure trove of berries—perfect for the cellar!"
“A slightly crimson color. Aromas of tart dark berries and a lovely salty note reminiscent of Nuits pepper. Firm and pure, the tannins are so fine that they are barely noticeable, yet they shape the fruit. Dry, rich, and perfectly balanced.” (Jancis Robinson 2023).

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2021 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
Run by the Devillard family, who also own Château de Chamirey in Mercurey, the vineyard is situated on remarkable terroirs in the southern part of the Côte de Nuits, and its grapes are vinified in the spirit of modern wines, seeking high ripeness and deep, voluptuous textures. The results have been impressive in recent years, even at the village level, with wines that are now very refined—a departure from the more robust styles we used to know. The 2018 vintage has captured all its potential here; these will be wines for aging, and indeed for very long aging in the case of the Nuits and Échezeaux. There is also a delightful red Burgundy.

About the wine:
This wine displays a charming finesse and a lively, spirited elegance right from the first sip. There is a hint of reduction (which should disappear after racking) and aromas of pomegranate, raspberry, and mint. The texture is silky and refined, and the tannins are very well integrated. [...]
