Domaine des Poncetys - Le Clos du Château 2015
14,5-15,5/20
RVF
Planted in 1938, the old Chardonnay vines of Clos du Château benefit from one of the finest terroirs on the Domaine des Pontecys estate. This south-facing plot produces a highly expressive wine with remarkable depth. The attack on the palate is rich and complex. Notes of brioche and vanilla mingle with fruity and floral aromas. A dense and ripe Saint-Véran!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2019 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
This vineyard, located in the heart of Davayé’s finest terroirs, is owned by the Mâcon Davayé Wine School. For several years now, it has been courageously managed as an organic operation, covering no less than 16 hectares, primarily within the Saint-Véran appellation. The winemaking approach here has a significant impact on the style of the wines, with very clean musts undergoing extended fermentation at low temperatures. The result is a modern and seductive profile. Of note is a rare and more original production of reds that we were unable to taste, and, as a side note, some highly esteemed goat cheeses!
Guide Hachette des vins

About the estate:
The Mâcon-Davayé wine school has been training winemakers from Burgundy and beyond for many generations. The adjacent vineyard (16 hectares) is farmed organically, and Frédéric Servais, the cellar master, aims to produce wines that are as “natural” as possible.
