Saint-Véran

The Saint-Véran Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC), established in 1971 in the Mâconnais region of Saône-et-Loire, encompasses the villages of Chânes, Chasselas, Davayé, Leynes, Prissé, Saint-Vérand, and Solutré-Pouilly. Saint-Véran wines may include the name of their specific vineyard site, a common practice in Burgundy. The Saint-Véran vineyard, spread over 680 hectares across two areas separated by the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, benefits from a Jurassic limestone terroir with varied exposures: south, west, and east. Saint-Véran white wines, made exclusively from the Chardonnay grape, are distinguished by their dry, round character, pronounced minerality, and fruity and floral aromas. Estates such as Chanson Père et Fils, Guffens-Heynen, and Maison Verget are prime examples. Saint-Véran white wine, grown in the southern Mâconnais region, offers a dry and round texture with fruity and floral notes, making it perfect for pairing with a wide variety of dishes, from fish to strong cheeses.
