Domaine des Poncetys - Saint-Véran Au Clos du Château 2023
“A regal Chardonnay”
The old vines of Clos du Château, one of the finest terroirs in the Poncetys vineyard, produce a seductive and delicate white wine. The nose opens with aromas of mango, followed by woody, smoky, and mineral notes. The dense palate perfectly captures the terroir through spices, weathered rock, and a hint of mango. The finish is long, clean, and crisply acidic. It’s enough to make your mouth water!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2019 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
This vineyard, located in the heart of Davayé’s finest terroirs, is owned by the Mâcon Davayé Wine School. For several years now, it has been courageously managed as an organic operation, covering no less than 16 hectares, primarily within the Saint-Véran appellation. The winemaking approach here has a significant impact on the style of the wines, with very clean musts undergoing extended fermentation at low temperatures. The result is a modern and seductive profile. Of note is a rare and more original production of reds that we were unable to taste, and, as a side note, some highly esteemed goat cheeses!
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
The Mâcon-Davayé wine school has been training winemakers from Burgundy and beyond for many generations. The adjacent vineyard (16 hectares) is farmed organically, and Frédéric Servais, the cellar master, aims to produce wines that are as “natural” as possible.
