Château de Jonquières - White Label #3 2019
90/100
RVF
A free cuvée, changing its face with each vintage, like a "White Label" vinyl record pressed in very limited quantities—that's the idea behind this Vin de France cuvée, free from all constraints. The 2019 vintage sets the tone with 80-year-old Carignan grapes aged in vats and barrels, with very little sulfite. The aromatic nose opens with fresh fruit and cade and continues with a fresh, fleshy palate with beautiful intensity. What depth!

About the estate:
A family-owned wine estate since the 12th century, Château de Jonquières boasts a long line of 32 generations of winemakers, which is quite rare for the region! The wines from this estate, with their classic style, are always easy to drink and harmonious—a classicism that the new generation, now running the business, has no intention of challenging but rather refining. Its dynamism and clear vision seem to be paving the way for renewal. The whites, expressive and easy to drink, combine Chenin and Grenache Blanc. The reds age well, particularly La Baronnie, which improves with between two and eight years in the bottle. Lansade, less consistent and precise, nevertheless seduces with its deliciousness.

Neither good nor bad. The structure quickly fades away in the mouth. Not badly made, but nothing to write home about...
