Domaine Jonquières - La Baronnie 2012

A fragrant nose that caresses the nostrils with notes of praline, baked pear, and navel orange zest. Pleasant and spicy on the palate, though lacking in depth, with a refreshing finish thanks to its herbal notes.

The wines bearing the La Baronnie label are easy to drink and serene, with a distinctly superior depth. Although ripe and dense, the 2012 white—a blend of half White Grenache and half Chenin—displays great finesse.

A family-owned vineyard since the 12th century, Château de Jonquières boasts a long lineage of 32 generations of winemakers—which is quite rare for the region! The estate’s wines, with their classic character, remain consistently easy to drink and harmonious—a classic style that the new generation, now at the helm of the estate, has no intention of challenging but rather of refining. Their dynamism and clear vision seem to be paving the way for a new era. The whites, expressive and easy to drink, blend Chenin and Grenache Blanc. The reds age well, particularly La Baronnie, which refines over two to eight years in the bottle. Lansade, while less consistent and precise, nevertheless charms with its rich, indulgent character.
