Gault & Millau

“The wines bearing the La Baronnie label are easy to drink and serene, with a distinctly superior depth. Though ripe and dense, the 2012 white—half Grenache Blanc, half Chenin—displays great finesse. ” (The Guide to the Best Wines of France 2015 – RVF). A dry white wine offering lovely richness and complexity thanks to the Grenache Blanc, while remaining very subtle... A must-try!

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated 14.5/20 (Good)

About the wine:

A fragrant nose that caresses the nostrils with notes of praline, baked pear, and navel orange zest. Pleasant and spicy on the palate, though lacking in depth, with a refreshing finish thanks to its herbal notes.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 15,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

The wines bearing the La Baronnie label are approachable and serene, with a distinctly superior depth. Although ripe and dense, the 2012 white—a blend of half White Grenache and half Chenin—displays great finesse.

About the estate:

A family-owned winery since the 12th century, Château de Jonquières boasts a long lineage of 32 generations of winemakers—a rarity in this region! The estate’s wines, with their classic character, remain easy to drink and harmonious—a classic style that the new generation, now at the helm, does not intend to challenge but rather to refine. Their dynamism and clear vision seem to be paving the way for renewal. The whites, expressive and easy to drink, blend Chenin and Grenache Blanc. The reds age well, particularly La Baronnie, which refines over two to eight years in the bottle. Lansade, less consistent and precise, nevertheless charms with its rich, luscious character.
