Château de Jonquières - White Label #3 2019
90/100
RVF
A free-spirited cuvée that changes character with each vintage, much like a “White Label”—a vinyl record pressed in a very limited run—that’s the concept behind this Vin de France cuvée, free from all constraints. The 2019 vintage sets the tone with 80-year-old Carignan grapes aged in tanks and barrels, with very little sulfite. The aromatic nose opens with fresh fruit and juniper and continues into a fresh, full-bodied palate with beautiful intensity. Real depth!

About the estate:
A family-owned vineyard dating back to the 12th century, Château de Jonquières boasts a long lineage of 32 generations of winemakers—a rarity for the region! The estate’s wines, with their classic character, remain consistently easy to drink and harmonious—a classic style that the new generation, now at the helm of the estate, has no intention of challenging but rather of refining. Their dynamism and clear vision seem to be paving the way for a new era. The whites, expressive and easy to drink, blend Chenin and Grenache Blanc. The reds age well, particularly La Baronnie, which refines over two to eight years in the bottle. Lansade, while less consistent and precise, nevertheless charms with its rich, indulgent character.

Neither good nor bad. The body fades quickly on the palate. It’s not bad, but it doesn’t stand out from the crowd...
