Bettane & Desseauve

“A very fresh white wine, crisp and fruity with good body and a delicious minty finish.” (Bettane & Desseauve Wine Guide 2020) A blend of Roussanne (80%) complemented by Marsanne and Viognier grown on limestone soil, lending an airy quality to this Mediterranean white wine. Nose of white flowers and citrus; rich and generous on the palate, with aromas of citrus and sweet spices, plus notes of eucalyptus for freshness. The finish is balanced by a touch of salinity, giving it lovely length. Mediterranean freshness!

Wine rated (2020 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2025 guide) 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable vintage, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the wine:

A very crisp white wine with fresh, crisp fruit, good body, and a delicious minty finish.

About the estate:

Following in the footsteps of Bernard Durand, who oversaw Pic Saint-Loup’s transition from a mixed-farming operation focused on sheep to its recognition as a quality wine-growing region, his nephew Régis Valentin has taken over the technical reins. Without fanfare, this is an estate worth seeking out for its Vieilles Vignes cuvée—powerful yet flavorful—its Clos des Combes, and its Grande Cuvée. The Cuvée Madame is even more ambitious, and the rosé is consistently delicious.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2025 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

Régis Valentin, an oenologist and cellar master, took over the estate in 2001, which was founded in 1960 by the Durand-Valentin families. He produces wines from 80 hectares of vineyards (in the process of converting to organic farming since 2019) situated on a beautiful terroir of hard limestone and red clay. A sure bet in the Languedoc.
