Château des Estanilles - Le Clos du Fou 2006

Château des Estanilles - Le Clos du Fou 2006

Notes: Guide Hachette 2** (remarkable wine) Gault Millau 15.5/20
Le Clos du Fou is the product of an unlikely plot, clinging to a south-facing hillside, created over fifteen years ago by Michel Louison, who demonstrates here his uncompromising dedication—sometimes tinged with a touch of madness—to extracting the very best from his terroir. A cuvée that brings together Syrah and a 100% pure schist terroir, where power and finesse, length and velvety texture come together. A must-try!

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

This estate was the pride of Faugères in the 1990s, before being taken over by Julien Seydoux, who arrived here with the humility to learn about the terroir and the desire to bring Les Estanilles back to the forefront. The aging process is gradually adapting to the wines’ characteristics and still has room to improve. The reds are powerful and full of flavor; they are wines with a strong personality.
