"Campredon offers a dazzling style with a lovely juicy feel!"
"Remarkably clear for an MSG blend, and also remarkably fragrant. No over-ripeness or over-extraction here! It's beautifully composed, playing the sweetness card with great care, and waltzing gracefully with tea-leaf-scented tannins. Cinnamon, red plum, cooked strawberry, dried cherry covered with rosemary and sage. Nothing flashy here, just a wine that speaks of its terroir." (Jancis Robinson 2025).

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
Alain Chabanon settled in Montpeyroux in 1992, having previously worked at Château Montus and in Corsica. He also farms plots in Jonquières, Saint-André, Lagamas and Saint-Saturnin. A pioneer among organic winegrowers, Alain is one of those refined, passionate winemakers. In the past, certain cuvées were sometimes the subject of debate, but magnificent new installations have enabled us to take a step forward. The ageing process, which was still visible, is set to evolve considerably, with a switch from barrels to foudres. Concrete eggs for the Mourvèdre grapes have made it possible to gain in freshness. More flesh in the wines would enable the domaine to play in a higher category.
Decanter
Wine rated (2024 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
It's open and ready to please, fragrant and fruity on the nose. The aromas and texture are reminiscent of crushed petals: floral, delicate and very soft. Its character is bright and lively, with lots of red fruit and raspberry coulis. Elegant but not closed, it's easy to appreciate and savor in all its subtlety.

About the wine:
All the freshness of the appellation in this invigorating red, elegant, skilfully vinified red that delivers a very distinctive palette, licorice, menthol and fruit (blackcurrant and cherry). More spicy notes spicier notes are woven into an airy, soft, suave palate tannins. Immaculately fresh, this is a very fine ambassador for the appellation.
About the domain :
The son of teachers and an oenological engineer, Alain Chabanon acquired vineyards in 1992 in Montpeyroux and surrounding villages. He built his winery in the midst of his vineyards (17 ha), which are farmed organically (certified in 2002) and biodynamically (2011).

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100
Domaine rated (guide 2026) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
The juicy, fresh Campredon expresses itself on zan and anise, and also a hint of pepper.
About the domain :
Alain Chabanon set up business in 1992 just outside Montpeyroux, after training with Alain Brumont in Madiran and Count Peraldi on the Isle of Beauty. A dedicated and inspired winemaker, he quickly made a name for himself with his hard work in the vineyard and his real choices in terms of viticulture, blending and ageing. Patience is required for these unvarnished, highly tactile wines, which see stainless steel, concrete eggs or foudre and are bottled late after maturing. The overall impression is fair and precise, with exemplary management of terroir expression and maturity. We salute the work done and the assertive personality of each of the wines.

Good bottle, perhaps lacking in power, development to be seen

A step above the previous vintage, the singular charm of this cuvée is even more pronounced in 2022 thanks to its smooth and luminous profile, showcasing the aromatic power of fresh red fruits (especially raspberry), interwoven with a touch of spice and floral notes. The firm, dusty tannins and luscious roundness are supported by a marked graphite freshness that enhances the intensity of the finish. Pairs well with duck skewers marinated in red pepper and cooked over the embers of a barbecue. The price is soaring. Rating = 4.1.
