Domaine Alain Chabanon

Domaine Alain Chabanon is situated on an exceptional terroir at the foot of the Larzac Plateau. The vineyard spans some twenty hectares, evenly distributed across five municipalities (Jonquières, St André, Lagamas, Saint Saturnin, and Montpeyroux). This layout allows the vineyard to benefit from a wide variety of microclimates and different soil types. The terroir of Domaine Alain Chabanon is ideally suited to the cultivation and flourishing of the vines: arid, stony soils situated on the foothills of the Larzac limestone plateau, cold winters and hot summers framed by mild springs and autumns.

Domaine Alain Chabanon has been certified organic by Ecocert since 1992 and biodynamic by Demeter since 2010. All grapes are harvested by hand and only between 7 a.m. and noon, even for reds, to take advantage of the morning cool. The winemaking method used varies depending on numerous criteria, the most important of which are the quality of the vintage and the grape variety in question. One thing, at least, remains constant: no industrial yeast is used, and Domaine Alain Chabanon prefers to rely on the yeasts that have been living naturally on the grape skins for months!
