Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, consistent with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

Established since 1981 on part of the family estate in Cravant-les-Coteaux, Pierre Sourdais cultivates his 27 hectares of vines using organic farming methods, with some plots located on the plain and others on the hillsides. The Réserve Stanislas and Les Boulaies vintages are particularly sought after, as they produce wines with the best tannic structure and aging potential.

About the estate:

It was at Moulin-à-Tan that oak bark was once ground for use in treating hides in the region's many tanneries. Today, the old mill has given way to a 27-hectare organic vineyard run by Pierre Sourdais, who is gradually handing it over to his daughter Caroline and son-in-law Sylvain. A sure bet in the Chinon region.
