A top-tier cuvée, crafted from an original blend of three Gamay varieties grown on granite soil—little-known red-fleshed grapes: Gamay de Chaudenay, Gamay de Bouze, and Gamaret. An intense nose of black fruits, with a dense and full palate marked by superb aromas of black cherry and bigarreau cherry, and a supple, fruit-forward finish. This is a wonderful discovery that will delight those seeking new sensory experiences…

About the estate:
Gilles Bonnefoy built his estate from the ground up starting in 1997: he planted the vineyards between 2001 and 2016 and established the winery in 2004. Today, the 10.5-hectare estate is farmed biodynamically and is situated on the outskirts of two volcanoes: La Madone and Le Pigeonnier.

Rated estate (2025 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Les Vins de la Madone offer one of the most exciting experiences in the Côtes du Forez, a low-key appellation situated between Saint-Étienne and Clermont-Ferrand, on the edge of the Livradois-Forez Nature Park. Gilles Bonnefoy strives to capture the sparkling purity of the fruit, both in his Gamay reds and in his whites (IGP d’Urfé), a Roussanne and a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris. This brilliance, drawn from granite and volcanic soils, is achieved through biodynamic viticulture (certified in 2008), vinification partly using whole clusters, and aging exclusively in tanks. The star is firmly set.

A trilogy of Gamays, just to show that this grape variety comes in several styles, each with its own distinct character. It should be sipped slowly to appreciate its wonderful uniqueness, including the "Gamaret," which is very full-bodied and more serious than your average Gamay.
