Urfé

TheUrfé vineyard is located in the Loire department, overlapping in particular with the Côte Roannaise and Côtes du Forez vineyards. Formerly known as Vin de Pays d'Urgé, it has benefited from the Urfé IGP label since 2009. Current production is relatively low, at around 1,000 hectoliters. The appellation now allows local producers to diversify their production without compromising the quality of their products.

The terroir produces IGP d'Urfé red and rosé wines made mainly from Gamay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah grapes. Urfé white IGP wine is mainly made from Chardonnay, Aligoté, Pinot Gris, Viognier, Gamay, Marsanne, and Roussanne grapes.

Among the producers of Urfé protected geographical indication wines, the quality of the wines offered by Domaine des Pothiers is particularly noteworthy.
