“Originality”

“A subtle bouquet with hints of anise and fennel brings this unpretentious white to life. It expresses itself with great purity and shows a slight influence from its aging in used barrels.” (The Guide to the Best Wines of France 2020 - RVF) The precision of the aromas on the palate transports you to the heart of the vineyard with a crispness that marks its youth. A beautiful vibrancy on the palate for immediate pleasure!

About the estate:

Originally from the Oise region, Xavier Weisskopf established his vineyard (17 hectares of organic land) in 2005. Nothing had set him on this path, but his studies in Chablis introduced him to the world of wine, leading him to the “Viti” in Beaune, then to Gigondas, and finally to the banks of the Loire.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

A subtle, nuanced bouquet of anise and fennel brings this unpretentious white wine to life. It expresses itself with great purity and bears a slight hint of its aging in used barrels.

About the estate:

Starting out with limited resources in a makeshift cellar in 2005, Clémence and Xavier Weisskopf have succeeded, through courage and tenacity, in building their own vineyard. For several years now, they have been among the leading producers in Montlouis-sur-Loire. The 17 hectares, spread between Montlouis and Touraine, are cultivated Organic. Touche Mitaine (flinty clay), Les Borderies (clay-limestone, 40-year-old vines), Le Grand Poirier (clay-sandy, 67-year-old vines)... A myriad of terroirs has been captured in the bottle, in whites that aim for aromatic nuance, delicacy, and the authentic expression of Chenin Blanc—whether dry or with residual sugar, depending on the character of the vintage. These are wines of great sincerity that delight the palate!

This wine is so good that you should cellar it every year—especially after 5 to 6 years of aging! Serve it chilled but not ice-cold (11–12°).
