About the estate:
A native of the Oise region, Xavier Weisskopf established his winery (17 ha of organic vineyards) in 2005. Nothing had set him on this career path, but his studies in Chablis introduced him to the world of wine, which led him to the “Viti” in Beaune, then to Gigondas, and finally to the banks of the Loire.

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Starting out with limited resources in a makeshift cellar in 2005, Clémence and Xavier Weisskopf have succeeded, through courage and tenacity, in building their own vineyard. For several years now, they have been among the leading producers in Montlouis-sur-Loire. The 17 hectares, spread between Montlouis and Touraine, are cultivated using the “ Organic ” method. Touche Mitaine (flint-rich clay), Les Borderies (clay-limestone, 40-year-old vines), Le Grand Poirier (sandy clay, 67-year-old vines)... A myriad of terroirs has been captured in the bottle, in whites that emphasize aromatic nuance, delicacy, and the authentic expression of Chenin—whether dry or with residual sugar—depending on the character of the vintage. These are wines of great sincerity that delight the palate!

Wine rated (2024 guide) 89/100
About the wine:
The 2021 Montlouis-sur-Loire Pétillant Originel is a lively, zesty, and slightly sparkling Chenin Blanc. It completed its fermentation in the bottle. Aging on the lees for 36 months has helped round out the sharp edges of the 2021 vintage’s linear character and add a bit of body on the mid-palate. Flavors of citrus and apples blend with delicate, creamy notes.
