"A natural sparkling wine made without additives—a sophisticated bubbly with a fresh, balanced flavor, perfect for an aperitif!"

A spontaneous, unpretentious cuvée, free from artificial additives. Here , the bubbles form naturally in the bottle, without the addition of sugar. A lively, sparkling Montlouis with fine, fresh bubbles and a delicate nose, opening with pleasant, very subtle notes of white fruit.

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Starting out with limited resources in a makeshift cellar in 2005, Clémence and Xavier Weisskopf have succeeded, through courage and tenacity, in building their own vineyard. For several years now, they have been among the leading producers in Montlouis-sur-Loire. The 17 hectares, spread between Montlouis and Touraine, are cultivated Organic. Touche Mitaine (flinty clay), Les Borderies (clay-limestone, 40-year-old vines), Le Grand Poirier (clay-sandy, 67-year-old vines)... A myriad of terroirs has been captured in the bottle, in whites that aim for aromatic nuance, delicacy, and the authentic expression of Chenin Blanc—whether dry or with residual sugar, depending on the character of the vintage. These are wines of great sincerity that delight the palate!

Vinous

Wine rated (2024 guide) 89/100

About the wine:

The Montlouis-sur-Loire Pétillant Originel 2021 is a lively, zesty, and slightly sparkling Chenin Blanc. It completed its fermentation in the bottle. Thirty-six months of aging on the lees have softened the sharp edges of the 2021 vintage’s linear character and added a touch of body to the mid-palate. Flavors of citrus and apple meet delicate, nutty notes.
